Ron Paul on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show

October 31, 2007

I know there is like a gazillion links to this video, but it IS a must-see. My favorite quip from Dr. Paul is ‘There’s probably a risk I could win”.

I watched the whole episode Tuesday night, and I don’t think that appearance could have been orchestrated any better for Ron Paul.

First, I’m sure there were a lot of viewers because the first guest was one of the biggest movie stars in the world: Tom Cruise.

Right before Ron Paul, they showed a clip from Tom Cruise’s new movie, which was basically a congressman and a journalist blaming each other’s profession for the huge mistake of going into Iraq. An appropriate note on which to introduce Ron Paul.

Jay Leno gave a very respectful interview, addressing several misconceptions, such as Ron Paul being an “isolationist”. The audience support was fantastic.

The show closed with the Sex Pistols performing “Anarchy in the UK”. During the performance, the singer said: “Hello Mr. Paul”, and later, “when are we gonna get out of Iraq?” At the end, Ron Paul shook hands with him very cordially looking like a gleeful kid at his first rock concert.

    Awesome appearance.

I went back and looked at the trailer. It was indeed a perfect setup for Dr. Paul, Jim.
